"For the sake of one child" we can make a difference

Saint Madeleine Sophie's words "For the sake of one child I would have founded the Society" speak of her commitment, in founding the Society of the Religious of the Sacred Heart (RSCJ), to the education of each and every child, irrespective of financial means.

The RSCJ educational philosophy and values continue to be vitally important - each student growing into her unique identity, educated, confident, empowered, loved, imbued with a sense of social justice - equipped to meet the challenges of this rapidly changing world and succeed.

In this centenary year of the canonisation of Saint Madeleine Sophie, the Baradene 2025 Giving Week will launch the RSCJ Scholarship Fund, raising funds for a new Sister Elizabeth Snedden Scholarship - to provide financial assistance to a deserving student or students enabling them to attend Baradene on the same terms as other students and to fully experience and benefit from a Baradene education, which would not otherwise be possible.

Sister Elizabeth is a Baradene alumna. She taught for many years at Baradene (and at most of the RSCJ schools on NZ and Australia) and continues to be a long serving Trustee on the Baradene Board and Director of the Proprietor, Baradene College Limited.

Sister Elizabeth has made an immense contribution to RSCJ education and to Baradene and we are delighted to be launching this Scholarship in her name for a purpose which is close to her heart.

The more funds we raise....

....the more financial assistance we can provide to deserving students.

For example, if we raised $100,000, we could:

-  support two deserving students through all their years at Baradene;

or

-  support five current deserving students with all/some of the costs of curriculum resources, laptop, uniform, sports/music/performing arts and cultural activities, or camps.

Thank you for your support

The Sister Elizabeth Snedden Scholarship provides an opportunity for our community to make a difference to the futures of those students who for financial reasons would not otherwise be able to fully experience and  benefit from a Baradene education.

With the 2025 Baradene Goal "Social Awareness that Impels to Action" in mind, we can set an example for our students, who in the future will make a difference in their communities.

We can continue the RSCJ legacy by playing a part in making a Baradene education accessible to students, irrespective of financial means.

Why are donations necessary?

For a variety of reasons, not every family is able to meet the full cost of their daughter attaining a Baradene education. As a community, we can provide financial assistance to those families as needed,  whether with the costs of uniforms, laptops, curriculum resources, sports/ music/performing arts/cultural activities, camps or school trips or, in some cases, with all school costs.
